READY BEFORE YOU GO
An offline drink tracker for trips with patchy connections
Caipi Counter saves drink entries on your device first and synchronizes them when a connection is available. To use it offline, open your event online beforehand and wait for “Offline ready”. A first visit without a connection cannot load a shared event.
Your shared event diary.Prepare on each device
Do the setup while you have a working connection. Creating an account, creating a new shared event and joining through an invitation require access to the server. Loading the event gives that device the event history and artwork it needs.
- Sign in and open the event you intend to use.
- Let its history finish loading and check the sync indicator.
- Tap the indicator and wait until it reports “Offline ready”. Repeat this on each phone that will record entries.
- Keep using the same browser or installed web app where you loaded the event.
What stays on your phone
Drink entries, undos, mood check-ins and drink-time corrections use the local queue. Your own view can reflect those changes before other people’s devices receive them. That is useful at a beach, in a hotel with unreliable Wi-Fi or while moving between connections.
Local storage belongs to that browser on that device. Clearing site data, switching browsers or removing browser storage can affect unsynchronized changes. Reconnect and confirm synchronization before clearing data or changing how you open the diary.
Read the sync indicator
The compact indicator distinguishes Synced, Syncing, Offline, Pending and Retry. Offline means changes stay on this phone. Pending means some changes are still waiting to synchronize. A saved local entry and an entry received by the shared event are different stages.
The app tries to synchronize when the connection returns and when you return to it. Tap the indicator to retry if needed. If it asks you to sign in again, restore access before expecting the phone’s pending entries to appear elsewhere.
Finish with a shared check
Once connected, wait for pending changes to clear and the indicator to show Synced. If several people recorded offline, let each phone reconnect before treating the group total or recap as complete. Repeated synchronization attempts are designed to avoid adding the same entry twice.
Event management still depends on a connection. Do not rely on offline mode for creating an occasion, approving a new member or removing a participant. Prepare those details before heading out, then keep the diary itself simple.
Preview mode is a separate sample experience. Changes there stay in the demo and do not become a shared event history just because the device reconnects.
GOOD TO KNOW
A few common questions
Can I start using Caipi Counter for the first time offline?
No. Create your account, open the shared event online and wait for “Offline ready” first. The phone needs the loaded event and cached app resources.
Will friends see my drinks while my phone is offline?
Not until those changes synchronize. Your phone shows its local entries, while other devices receive them after it reconnects successfully.
What should I check before clearing browser data?
Reconnect, wait for pending changes to clear and confirm the indicator shows Synced. Unsynchronized entries are stored in the browser on that device.
