How our honeymoon in Gregolimano became Caipi Counter
I built Caipi Counter during my honeymoon with Esther in Gregolimano, Greece. It began as a simple idea: give the drinks we enjoyed together a place in our memories of the trip. Then our friends saw it, loved the idea and joined immediately. Suddenly, this little diary had more people in it.
Your shared event diary.A diary for the two of us
We were at an all-inclusive resort, enjoying our honeymoon. I wanted to make something we could use together, right there, during that occasion. A drink diary felt like a small, fun idea that could become part of the trip itself.
The first purpose was straightforward: choose the person, add the drink and keep a history of what we had logged. Give the occasion a name, and those entries belong to something you can return to later. In our case, they belonged to our honeymoon.
That context still matters to me. A drink on its own is a detail. Put it alongside the people, the dates and the place, and it becomes part of an occasion. Caipi Counter started with an occasion Esther and I cared about deeply, which is why the shared diary remains at the heart of it.
Our friends made it bigger
When our friends saw the idea, they loved it and joined immediately. That response meant a lot to us. Something I had built for Esther and me made sense to other people without needing a long explanation.
It became clear that the same idea could belong to more occasions: a holiday with friends, a birthday, a dinner or another trip together. Each group would bring its own people and its own history. The original honeymoon diary was the beginning of something we wanted to open up.
The appeal was in doing it together. Everyone could have a place in the occasion, with their own entries inside the same story. Our friends helped us see how naturally that part could grow.
Why we love what it has become
Esther and I love Caipi Counter. I love that it still feels personal, even as it has grown beyond the first idea. The illustrated drinks, the avatars and the celebrations give it a warmth that I want to preserve.
I also love how much room there is for different kinds of moments. A caipirinha can sit in the same diary as a coffee, a glass of water or a mocktail. A shared event can have its playful parts and its quieter ones, all inside the same occasion.
The reports and recaps give that history somewhere to go. When an event finishes, you can look back at what you recorded together. I want that experience to feel like opening a keepsake: something familiar that brings the occasion back to you.
Now we want more people to find it
That is why we want to spread the word. We would love people to discover Caipi Counter and make it part of their own occasions. Our honeymoon gave it a beginning; your holiday, your friends and your celebrations can give it completely different stories.
You can try the public drink and game demos before creating an account. If it feels like something your group would enjoy, create your event and invite your people. And if you know someone who would love the idea, send them Caipi Counter.
It started with Esther and me in Gregolimano. Our friends joined in, and we fell in love with what this little project was becoming. I am excited to see where people take it next.
